Twenty-eight years of teaching dance with heart

HOW IT STARTED

One teacher, one studio, one belief

In 1998, Kimberley Bennett-Woodger opened a small ballet school in a Church Hall in Watson St, Camp Hill, with a simple conviction: that every child deserves to be taught properly, regardless of whether they dream of a professional career or just want to dance for fun and fitness.

With an Associate of the Royal Academy of Dance (A.R.A.D.) qualification, experience teaching world-wide since age 15, and a deep love of teaching, Kimberley built KWDA from the ground up. One student, one family, one term at a time.

Nearly three decades later, the philosophy hasn't changed. The classes are still small. The teachers still know every child's name. And the door to excellence is still open to anyone willing to work for it.

— Kimberley Bennett-Woodger, Founding Director

OUR HOME

Purpose-built for dance

Our Coorparoo studio was designed from the ground up for serious dance training in a safe, welcoming environment. Everything — from the floors to the air conditioning — was chosen with dancers in mind.

Three dedicated studios with professionally sprung Tarkett dance floors

Individual air-conditioning in every studio

CCTV in every studio for safety and security

Viewing windows at every studio door

Comfortable waiting area for families

Safe, supervised drop-off and pick-up

OUR APPROACH

Build up, never tear down

Dance training at its best is demanding and supportive at the same time. We hold every student to a high standard — not to pressure them, but because we believe they're capable of more than they think.

Our classes are deliberately small so every child is seen, corrected and encouraged. Whether your child dances once a week for the joy of it or trains five days a week toward a vocational pathway, they'll receive the same qualified teaching and the same care.

We follow the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) syllabus for ballet and the ComDance syllabus for jazz — internationally recognised frameworks that give structure to every class and a clear pathway for progression.
